The Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences opened its Medicinal Herb Garden to the public for five days from October 21st to 25th, 2024. Although the weather was not sunny throughout the period and there were some days with bad weather, about 500 people from inside and outside the prefecture visited the garden.
In the garden covering approximately 10,000㎡, visitors were able to enjoy a variety of plants in their autumn attire, including the medicinal plants which are Siberian Laurel, Lock Vine, Euonymus Japonica with wings on its branches, and the extinct wild plant Magnolia Kobushi.
This year's open days included the experiential exhibition entitled "Enjoying the Scent of Fragrant Citrus Fruits," in which visitors were able to experience the scent of essential oils from fragrant citrus fruits such as sudachi, yukou, and Shimanto Bushukan, which are grown in Tokushima Prefecture and neighboring prefectures, and this was very well received.
The Medicinal Herb Garden holds public open days with various themes every year. We will continue to hold public open days in the future, and will also strive to promote the development of pharmacology through the collection, preservation and research of medicinal plants, as well as through interactions with local residents and social contribution activities. We appreciate your understanding and support.
