On October 23rd, 2024, Vice-Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, Mr. Fujiwara Akio visited Tokushima University.
First, he visited the Institute of Post-LED Photonics on Josanjima Campus, where Mr. Matsuki, CEO and Executive Director (in charge of research), and Professor Yano, Director of the Next Generation Photonics Research Division explained him the concept and research policy of the Institute of Post-LED Photonics, as well as the overview of the Transdisciplinary Program for Medicine, Photonics, and Engineering which was established in 2023 to "Increase the Enrollment Quota at Regional National Universities in Order to Contribute to the Realization of Attractive Regional Universities" and its current operational status.
Next, at Professor Yano's laboratory, Mr. Fujiwara Akio heard about the research which Professor Yano is working on regarding "Highly Sensitive Sensors Using Next-Generation Light" and its range of applications, and expressed his expectations for the potential of the Next-Generation Light Research.
Afterwards, at the Central Administration Office, Mr. Fujiwara Akio held a discussion with Mr. Kawamura Yasuhiko, President of Tokushima University, about the current situation and various issues of Tokushima University.
