On September 24th, 2024, the International Office, Tokushima University, organized a fieldwork event titled "Let’s Experience International Exchange at a Japanese High School." This event was part of the Tokushima Prefecture International Student Community Exchange Promotion Project, which aims to foster stronger connections between international students, Japanese students, and local communities. Through activities like this, the project helps international students improve their Japanese language skills, deepen their understanding of Japanese culture, and supports their integration into the local community.
During this fieldwork, international students from Tokushima University and Tokushima Bunri University, along with Japanese students, visited Tokushima Municipal High School, where they participated in classes and club activities. In the classroom experience, participants were divided into groups to attend classes alongside high school students and introduce their home countries. Afterward, they joined various club activities such as calligraphy, tea ceremony, flower arrangement, art/manga, archery, and rowing, where they had the opportunity to experience the clubs of their choice.
Through participation in this fieldwork, international students gained insight into Japanese high school life and culture by experiencing it firsthand. For Japanese students and high school students, it was an opportunity to deepen their understanding of foreign cultures through communication with international students.
The International Office intends to continue promoting exchanges between international students, Japanese students, and local communities through this project, creating opportunities for mutual understanding.
