Tokushima City's midsummer festival, the Awa Odori, was held for five days from the eve of the festival on August 11th to the 15th in preparation for an earthquake as emergency warning of the Nankai Trough earthquake was issued. On August 12th, the Tokushima University-ren led by President Kawamura and the Rasen-ren made up of students from the Faculty of Bioresources and Bioindustry took part in after checked the evacuation guidance map under the disaster prevention measures of the Awa Odori Executive Committee.
Starting at around 6:30 pm, the dancers firstly danced at the Shinmachibashi Nishi Enbujo Venue in Tokushima City, moved to the Higashi-Shinmachi Arcade, and then finally danced at the Shinmachibashi Higashi Enbujo Venue. The light-hearted rhythm of the "Zomeki" and the enthusiasm of the people who had been waiting for the Awa Odori made everyone's steps lighter. The students who had been practicing all this time performed an exhilarating dance and energetic shouts which drew enthusiastic applause from the spectators.
