A delegation from the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology (Technion), President Uri Sivan, Distinguished Professor Mordechai Segev, visited Tokushima University from June 28 to 30, 2023.
On June 28, President Uri Sivan and Distinguished Professor Mordechai Segev from the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology (Technion) paid a courtesy visit to President Kawamura of Tokushima University.
TU and the Technion signed an inter-university exchange agreement in 2020, and have been engaged in various initiatives, including “International Special Lectures” by Technion faculty members, including Nobel laureates in chemistry, and student exchange through the Young Researcher Exchange Program. During the discussion, both presidents expressed their gratitude for the cooperation in the exchange to date.
President Sivan introduced the university's priority initiatives to develop and strengthen interdisciplinary research areas and to enhance its ecosystem in collaboration with industry and many other organizations and institutions.
President Kawamura introduced efforts to develop education and research in interdisciplinary fields by leveraging the university's strengths through the establishment of the Transdisciplinary Program for Medicine, Photonics, and Engineering. He also introduced the enhancement of entrepreneurship education learning from the Technion, which supports technological innovation in the start-up nation of Israel, and efforts to support the development of university-initiated start-ups.
It is hoped that this courtesy visit will serve as an accelerator for even more active interdisciplinary joint research and exchange of students and researchers between Tokushima University and the Technion in international collaborative projects.
